This book is supported by the social sciences; it examines protein mechanisms of culture, its outreach logics, the diverse means of reception and its plural uses. On the other hand, it derives from the administration and management sciences, and takes into consideration the complex entertainment market and the competition between cultural spaces, media and the digital scene.

Some of the main studies about the role of museums come from France, basically on account of the richness of its collections and its large management history. Even though museum audiences research is limited in Latin American, and is primarily quantitative, this book may inspire us to broaden those investigations and achieve alliances with institutions that operate systematically on statistics, like those offered by tourism agencies or costumers’ opinions. The book that we are now presenting is an example of the richness that sociological and philosophical analysis may afford, observed from the standpoint of the millions of diverse audiences that nowadays attend museums.
