Dilemas y sistemas para la conservación de las obras
de arte contemporáneo

Editor: Américo Castilla /2015

Should we try to restore a piece conceived as ephemeral by its author? Should we replace its decaying elements, such as edibles, for example? Should we left missing what is missing? Is it possible to re-install a work of art of which we only have the instructions given by the author for its reconstruction?Which are the challenges of scholarship in this new field?

These and other questions arose during the Conference held by TyPA in 2010 and are the core subject of this book.

Nowadays mastering art history and the traditional tools of restoration is not enough. Interconnection among several fields of knowledge, training and new preservation policies are our new departure line.

During the Conference, experts and researchers from Europe, the USA and Argentina ( MOMA, Getty Foundation, Reina Sofía, Guggenheim Museum and the CONICET) , and important artists, shared their experiences and points of view. All of them contributed to a new corpus of information in Spanish language in order to help the understanding of new problems and their eventual solutions.
